The per carat price increases as the weight and the quality increases. For example a 25 carat round diamond starts at around 300 and a 5 carat round diamond starts at around 650. So while the one carat is double the weight the face of the half carat diamond is only 21 smaller. Larger diamonds are much rarer than smaller ones.

In other words the increase for price per carat goes up dramatically for each magic number for example the difference in price between a 4 ct and a 3 ct diamond greatly exceeds the difference between a 3 ct and a 2 ct diamond. To compare that a one carat diamond is 6 4mm. For instance if one carat costs 2500 a 0 5 carat diamond would cost 1250.

Diamond prices are calculated per carat. The per carat price increases exponentially as you move up in carat weight. However we need to consider the other cs of a diamond color clarity and cut. A 0 25 carat quarter of a carat diamond with the same color and clarity grades as above costs around 1 600 per carat making the price of the diamond approximately 425.

Cut grade and diameter over weight. This is because it is more rare to find bigger sized diamonds. That is 1 5th of an inch. The larger the diamond the more per carat it costs.
